spicy mutton curry/ mutton masala


cooking time : 20 minutes 
preparation time : 10 minutes


ingredients :


mutton with bone                     1/2 kg
oil                                          1/2 cup

bay leaf                                       1
cinnamon stick                               2 inches .
coriander leaf                            2 tbsp chopped 
tomato chopped                                     2
onion grated                                     1 
water                                              2 cup
ginger garlic paste                              1 tbsp
salt to taste


for masala / spices paste :

chopped onion                        1
kashmiri chilly powder             1 tsp
red chilly powder                      1 tsp
black pepper clove                  2
caraway seeds                           1/2 tsp
black cardamom                      1
mace                                     1 inches 
cloves                                               2
green cardamom                           1
water                                         2 tbsp

for garnishing :

coriander leaf                        1 tbsp
cream                                      1 tbsp (optional)


preparation :

  • in a mixture jar take chopped onion , Kashmiri red chilly powder , red chilly powder , mace , caraway seed , clove , black pepper corn , green cardamom , black cardamom , and 2 tbsp water and make fine paste . 

method :


  • heat 1/2 cup oil in a cooker add cinnamon stick , bay leaf and onion paste and stir till onion get nice golden color .

  • add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute now add mutton pieces and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes more . 

  • now add prepared spice mixture and sauté for 2 minutes .
  • add 1 cup water and pressure cook it for 2 Whistle. or until mutton get cooked fully .

  • now open the lid and stir on high flame till oil get separate from mutton . 

  • now add green coriander leaf and stir . add 1 cup water and again cover and cook for 5 minutes till oil comes out from mutton .
  • remove in a platter sprinkle green coriander and serve with bread / naan , or with steam rice
