Daal fry / daal makhni / spicy mix lentils


cooking time : 20 minutes
preparation time : 10 minutes - 



ingredients :


whole red lentil (masoor daal )             1 cup
gram lentil    (chana daal )            1 cup
white lentil (Mungo beans/maash ki daal )         1/2 cup
black keydney bean   (rajma)                     1/2 cup ( soaked in water over night )
tamarind paste                          2 tbsp
salt to taste 
fresh chopped green coriander         1 cup
green chilly                                         4
onion                                              1 finely chopped 
cinnamon stick                                1 
bay leaf                                         1 
tomato                                           3 chopped 
garlic cloves                                 3
turmeric                                     1 tsp
cumin seeds                                 1 tsp
mustard seed                                 1/2 tsp
red chillies powder                                       1 tsp
oil                                                      4 tbsp
butter                                                   4 tbsp
curry leaf                                                     3


method :

  • boil whole red lentil , gram lentil , rajma , (kidney beans , and white lentil . 
  • mix them together in a bowl and roughly mash it so that all get mix well . 
  • in a pan heat butter and oil add chopped garlic ,bay leaf , mustard seeds , curry leaf ,  chopped onion ,cumin seeds ,  cinnamon stick till onion get golden color 
  • , then add ginger garlic paste , green chilly ,turmeric powder red chilly powder , and sauté till oil comes out .
  • add boiled lentils (daal) and mix well . allow it to get a boil then add tamarind paste , lemon juice , and fresh green coriander leaf . 
  • remove in a serving bowl and serve with rice and roti .
